Loose motion and stomach pain
My daughter,15 years old, is having loose motions since morning (6 times) and stomach pain. I just gave her a lemotil and one cup of home made ORS. What can I give her to ease her stomach pain and control the motions?

1. Continue ORS — most important Loose motions cause dehydration fast in children. Give: • ½–1 cup ORS after every loose motion Small frequent sips are best. Homemade ORS is good, but WHO ORS (Electral/DripDrop/Pedialyte) is even better if available. 2. About Lomotil Lomotil is NOT routinely recommended for children because it slows the intestine too much. Since you already gave 1 dose, it’s okay, but do not give any more. 3. Safe medicines to control loose motions Racecadotril (Econorm / Hidrasec / Redotril) Dose for 15-year-old: 100 mg capsule three times a day (morning–afternoon–night) It reduces diarrhea safely without stopping the intestine completely. Probiotics Helpful for pain + loose motions. Options: • Econorm sachet – 1 sachet twice daily • Vizylac / Sporolac – 1 tab twice daily • Darolac – 1 cap twice daily 4. For Stomach Pain The pain is because the intestines are contracting due to infection. You can give: Hyoscine (Buscopan) 10 mg tablet — one tablet, up to 3 times a day if needed OR Dicyclomine 10 mg tablet — twice daily Both are safe for a 15-year-old. Avoid painkillers like ibuprofen for diarrhea—they worsen the stomach. 5. Diet Advice for Today Give only: • Curd rice • Khichdi • Toast • Bananas • Coconut water • ORS • Soups Avoid: • Milk • Tea/coffee • Oily food • Chips • Cold drinks • Spicy food
Next Steps
Take her to a doctor immediately if: • More than 8–10 motions in a day • Not drinking enough / looks weak • High fever • Blood in stool • Vomiting everything • Severe abdominal pain
