Left pleural effusion with shifting of mediastinum to the right
Symptoms- Shortness of breath is the main concern.
Weakness, Fever, nausea and vomiting(due to antibiotics assumed).

Hi, since when have you had these symptoms? Have you been prescribed any treatment. The usual course of action with these symptoms and pleural effusion causing mediastinal shift is to first test the pleural fluid: tests being gram stain, afb stain, cell count, sugar , protein , culture for turberculosis and bacterial infections. Screening is done for immunosuppressive Infections like hiv, hepatitis b and c. Based on reports further management is decided. All this done in a hospital setting. Effusion With mediastinal shift may need draining of pleural fluid as well. Pleas immediately consult a chest physician. It’s of prime importance you consult a doctor immediately.
