I have valgus knee deformity since birth. I am 34 yrs old now and 98 kg. I fell on 20th jan & left knee twisted, went to dr. X ray was normal. He said that after 7 days when i will start walking, then get an MRI done to check for ligaments injury but till today i dont get confidence to put pressure on my knee and so couldnt get mri done. I feel pain if i put pressure n try to walk. I am wearing knee braces and putting ice pack. My question is how much time does it take normally to start walking and how many days should i rest more? Becoz i live on 2nd flr, so its not easy to get MRI done if i cant walk. Should i start putting pressure in pain also or should i rest ?? If rest then for how many more days?? I dont want to undergo surgery. Pls suggest if there is any other solution also. TIA

Hello
It seems that it is 10 days post injury now. If your swelling and pain has not improved in these 10 days, then better you should get an MRI done. When to start with weight bearing can be decided either by clinical examination or MRI. If it is not possible for you to travel to MRI centre, you can call for an ambulance. Some of the MRI centres also provide ambulance.
