I had left acl partial tear knee in 2008. But I avoid surgery hoping it will cure by exercises. But now in 2018 joint is highly unstable with pain in meniscus also. What should be the next line of management. Should I go for surgery. Since tear is chronic,is surgery good?

⢠Sports Taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area
⢠Contrast Fomentation (Hot and Cold).
⢠Contrast bath---It is a form of treatment in which knee is applied warm water followed by the immediate application of the knee with ice water. This procedure is repeated several times, alternating hot and cold. Note that the treatment should always end in the ice water, as heat will induce the body's inflammatory response, while cold helps to decrease inflammation.
Highly recommend Arthroscopic ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair or meniscectomy.
It is a minimally invasive yet latest technology for treating unstable knee.
Take one fresh MRI check the present condition of the knee. If the tear is partial consultant Physiotherapist and do knee rehabilitation till the surrounding muscles get full strength. Get well soon.
see a specialist arthroscopy surgeon. 10 yrs down the line one will need to see degree of subsequent damage to meniscus and cartilage due to ongoing instability to decide best treatment option in your case.
