Have been diagnosed with many fibroid and am scheduled for an laprascopic hysterectomy only removing the uterus. Doc said she will try and remove uterus through the vagina if possible. No kids and not planning hence proceesing with hysterectomy. My uterus is bulky at 7.9 *6.5 *6.6 cms. Is it too big to remove through Vagina and will it cause a tear in my vagina? Also how bad is the pain after a laproscopic hysterectomy on day 1 and 2. I have a very low pain threshold and am scared of waking up to pain. Pls do help with a response and not with messages to consult.

The uterus is bulky and it will be divided before removing from the vagina and No it wont cause any tears.
Regarding laproscopy, the pain will last for first 24-48hrs and then it ll be minimal which can be treated off by analgesics, so need not worry.

Whether the uterus is too big can be best decided perioperarively. If it's too big, it will be cut into pieces before removal and not cause tears. In laparoscopy as the incision is small the pain is less and can be managed better with analgesics.
Your uterus is big. Its weight will be about 160 gm. A normal uterus weighs about 50 gm. Since you never had a vaginal delivery earlier the uterus may have to be divided into two parts before it is delivered through the vagina.
The post-operative pain is minimal. You will be given some analgesics for the first 24 hours. So not to worry.
