L4-l5 disc prolapse
Hi doctors my mother is having a disc prolapse of 17*14mm in l4-l5 region can anyone please suggest that would she need to go for surgery or it cures automatically by taking rest it would be helpful if anyone can address this issue and also can we continue physiotherapy please suggest

Lumbar disc prolapse in your case though appears to be little largger size, still a conservative non surgical approach can be tried at first place. If she is not having very severe leg wekness or any bladder and bowel problem or if pain and paraesthesia is the major symptoms, then a conservative therapy of complete rest , guided physiotherapy , analgesics and other supportive medicines can be tried for 1 to 1&1/2 month. Usually  most of the patients show a good response. If she is not responding to conservative therapy then go for surgery
