We should get one x ray of knee joint and should know the stage of osteoarthritis. Based on the stage of osteoarthritis the treatment varies. When there is effusion in joint, there will be limitation in movement. So, if there is need for aspiration that should be also done.
Next Steps
finally we advice  the pt for physical visit.

If you cannot move your knee and if it feels stiff its time to fix up a meeting with your orthopedic surgeon. Severe grade osteoarthritis requires surgery and cannot be treated conservatively for long. If you think you have tried everything and now nothing is working its time to go for the surgery.
