Hello. Post injury long term pain in knee may be due to injuries to meniscus or some cartilage injury. Please see if ur bmi s normalised. Reduce weight, walk as much as u can , strengthen ur quadriceps muscles , apply some gel. If still u feel dyscomfort, visit hospital for examination.

It can be tear of structures inside the joint, it can be miniscus, ACL, PCL, MCL etc . After clinical examination it can be diagnosed. Treatment depends on diagnosis. Taking blind treatment is not good option, it may decrease pain temporarily, but long term effects like knee joint arthritis can happen.

You may have an injury to the meniscus of the knee. A clinical examination and MRI will identify the problem.
Next Steps
Please visit an orthopedic surgeon.
