KNEE PAIN BONE Infarct
My Mother is 61 yrs old She had knee pain and as doc said we did xray and MRI MRI Says its likely bone infarct of distal femur and proximal knee. Now doc has given meds and says you hav to eat meds for long time. Mother has pain while walking and has difficulty in standing up after sitting or lying down for long time.. Although the pain is bearable but its affecting daily life now. Also after taking for few days pain is controlled and when med is stopped pain re appears. I want to know that is taking meds for longer time will have side effects or should she continue wid meds for long time. She is having no other med condition but she was on some desi meds a year back for her ashthma which might hav had adverse effects. Kindly guide me is there anything serious as per MRI result and also about the meds.. should i take them for long time. Thank You

Share x-rays...as she might be having just osteoarthritis or osteochondritis dessicans. Osteoarthritis is more common in this age group. O.Dessicans is more common in young male patients and involves mainly medical condyle of femur.
Next Steps
Share x-rays.. Try: 1. Regular knee quadriceps exercises ( static and knee bending). 2. Ice pack application will help 3.Medications like Cartigen DN and Enzomac forte will help.
Health Tips
This may be a case of just osteoarthritis..which is simpler to deal with depending on x-ray staging.
