Hey there...
From the information that you have provided, it seems to be a muscular dysfunction caused by insufficiency at the patella (Knee cap)
The knee cap acts like a pulley in the leg. The function of a pulley is to perform maximal work with minimum effort required, the pulley is at an optimal angle so that minimal force is used to complete a said task.
When the pulley is displaced even by 2mm, the angle changes and considerable effort has to be put by the muscles to perform simple movement. Because of this it gets tired and damaged as well.
Next Steps
Go see a Physiotherapist who will take care of the root cause.
- Will prescribe any pain relieving modalities if necessary
- Will do patellar mobilisation and bring your knee cap in normal position.
- May / May not do taping to maintain the knee cap in its place.
- Will give you exercises to strengthen your VMO muscle to hold the patella in its normal position.
Health Tips
Avoid:
Cross legged sitting
Sitting on the floor
Indian toilets
Stairs
Heavy leg exercises in the gym
