This is a condition know as Early Arthritis of Knee because of injury. Due to Old fracture the normal biomachenics of the knee got disturbed that leads to abnormal wear and tear of the joint and arthritis. To save the joint and slow down the progression of arthritis You should manage your body weight in to normal limit. Strengthen your thigh muscles. Avoid extreme positionof joint like Squatting, Cross leg sitting, Stairs, Running, jogging etc. Do regular non weight bearing exercises like cycling. Consult with a good physiotherapist nearby and have some sessions of physiotherapy and learn the exercises and continue doing it every day.

The knee has now turned arthritic because of old fracture in the knee, which was neglected.
Next Steps
Surgery to elevate the lateral tibial plateau with a plate. This will help in avoiding knee buckling, but the already arthritic knee wont improve. It will prevent further development of arthritis. Along with the elevation, arthroscopy can be performed at the same stage, to debride the eroded cartilage
Health Tips
Do not sit on the floor
