My jaw on the right side makes sound like two bones rubbing when i chew or bite food. It has more frequent these days. I heard this happens when jaw is dislodged but i feel no pain even when it makes the sound or while eating. What could be the issue?

Hi Bone rubbing sound (crepitus) is a sign of advanced stage of TMD (Temporomandibular Disorder). You would need an MRI of bilateral TMJs. Do consult an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon ASAP. Or else the prognosis will worsen and you would need to get a joint replacement surgery!

It could be due to temporomandibular joint (TMJ) sounds. These sounds can be caused by the movement of the jaw joint and are often harmless. However, if you experience any pain, difficulty opening or closing your mouth, or if the sounds persist or worsen, it's advisable to consult a dentist or healthcare professional for further evaluation. Common reason could be: - Stress or teeth grinding - Arthritis - Disc Displacement - Malocclusion - Muscle dysfunction
