Is this weight loss concerning?
Hi, at the month of Feb, I weigh around 65 kg. I started having acidity issue since March start. By April end,my weight came down to 63kgs which I found concerning.By then my stools were soft ( not watery) but could see undigested food. as per doc suggestion did a endoscopy and found 2 mild dueodenal ulcer( duedonites) and also did a test for H pylori which came out positive. So from May 9, I stared with the H pylori treatment for 10 days followed by 15 days of vonograss 20. Through all this time I was eating just home food and no non-veg. My weight was still fluctuationing between 62-63.By June 10,I started feeling better and my appetite improved. I was 64 by last Saturday ( 28th June). But again on Sunday (29th June) , I started feeling bloated ( I ate paya soup and mutton ( home cooked) followed by pav bhaji in the night and next day morning potato stew. Since then my motions were soft ( not watery ). I started ayurveda for gut. I weight is now 61.65 in the morning after stool.

Your weight loss is understandable given the timeline — H. pylori infection, duodenal ulcers, reduced appetite, and dietary restrictions all contribute to losing a few kilograms. The fact that your appetite improved and you regained to 64 kg by late June is a very good sign that the H. pylori treatment worked. The bloating after eating paya soup, mutton, and pav bhaji the same evening is expected — your gut lining is still recovering post-ulcer treatment and is sensitive to rich, heavy, or spicy foods. This is not a sign of treatment failure.
Next Steps
Avoid heavy, rich, or spicy meals for another 4-6 weeks while your stomach heals. Eat small, frequent, light meals. Confirm H. pylori eradication with a stool antigen test 4 weeks after completing all antibiotics. Your weight should gradually recover as your appetite and digestion normalize. Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation.
