Dear Practo User.
Thanks for sending across your query.
Sudden weight gain, body aches, swelling, and a neck bump may indicate hypothyroidism or thyroid inflammation. A thyroid profile (T3, T4, TSH) and ultrasound are essential. It would be better if you come for evaluation, diagnosis, and effective treatment. Early care ensures better recovery.
Need to know if your mother is on any antilipemic drugs which may lead to myopathy,Provided uncontrolled waight gain may cause such alterations in metabolism. Also do thyroid profiling (T3,T4,TSH) as a preliminary thyroid workup.
Next Steps
Do a thorough Thyroid workup - Thyroid profiling,USG thyroid Local
