Intensity of pressure on my tmj splint
I am being treated for jaw disorder (tmj) with splint (I wear it for 24 /7) and then orthodontic treatment (i think i have overbite problem). As a symptoms my facial or jaw muscles are contracted or in spasm with neck and back problems. What should be the intensity of pressure by my upper and lower row of teeth on my tmj splint? Please give me some helpful tips according to my situation. Thank you.

You should avoid pressure. Take precautions like not opening mouth wide, avoiding hard food and applying minimal pressure while chewing. A spasm can be relieved by applying cold compression ( ice cubes ) on the area. A gentle massage will help. Will advise you to see the dentist you are taking treatment from for a follow-up and safety measures to make sure everything is fine.
