Repetitive thoughts which are unwanted and distressing may be a symptom of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. From your description I can see that your 'automatic' thoughts may be a part of OCD. However, if you are thinking about the same issues again and again and you leave activities to think over same things, such that lot of your time goes wasted, then it may be the symptom of depression too. In both cases, you need to first meet a psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist for proper diagnosis and assessment.
Next Steps
Consult a psychiatrist.
Health Tips
Repetitive thoughts may bring life long distress and managing them requires specific techniques.
