Thank you for sharing your concern. It is common to get distracted while studying, you're not alone! But I'm glad you took the next step in reaching out for help to solve this issue. Study Distractions can be either internal or external. Internal distractions could be because of internal stress, or emotional thoughts; whereas external distractions could be on going TV show, distractive surroundings and so on. To answer your first question, yes meditation can help. Meditation allows you to be calmer and filter out negative thoughts. So while studying, you are able to have control over them and continue studying. Here are some other ways to help yourself avoid distraction: 1. Understand what is distracting you: What are the thoughts that come to your mind? Or is it something around that's taking you to your dreamland? 2. Clear your desk! : A clear table is a clear mind. When you clear off your desk, it opens your mind, invites ideas and reduces distraction. 3. Put off social media: Put your phone on DND and devote that time for studying alone. You can also check out apps that help put timer in your apps and make it inaccessible for the time being. 4. Pomodoro Technique: This is a study technique that helps you take enough breaks and study in a time frame. Decide the amount of reading you want to finish within 25 minutes. Set a timer and start studying. Once the timer goes off, take a 5-minute break and do whatever you like. Repeat this for 4 times. Once you are done with 2 hours, take a long break! (Because you deserve one!) 5. Choose a spot that helps you concentrate.
