Hole in eardrum
My mother is having hole in eardrum from the past 6 months.she sometimes got pus in the starting but she never felt pain.we consulted doctor, they are saying that hole is very small but its better to take surgery.is it really needed to take surgery or can we heal it with medication?.If surgery is needed how much time it takes and how much rest she needs and will there be any complications in future ?..thanks in advance

Hi If the hole is big it normally requires surgery,but if the hole haven't got closed since 6months it is less likely it will heal. So I think you should go for surgery. While in an experienced hands the surgery takes 1hour or so. Post surgery atleast 7 days rest is advisable. No frank complications as such of the surgery are reported. Regards
