Hla b27 positive
Hi, Recently I got my Hla b27 test positive and anaifa test mildly positive. I experience stiffness and pain in my back and feet. The doctor has put me on Sazo (sulfasalazine) 1000mg once daily at night. Is it okay to start this medication for my problem? Are there any side effects or adverse effects of this medication as I have been told to take it long term. Thanks

First of all one need to ascertain whether you have got AS or other form of arthritis as management will be different. No one should be diagnosed with AS on the basis of HLAB27 But unfortunately a lot of non Rheumatologist pay a lot ot emphasis on this test and I personally do not appreciate that. If you haven't seen a Trained Rheumatologist then please do see. I am more than happy to offer a video consultation.
