I am having high bp 160/110 in mornings.
I was taking asomex 2.5 mg for bp . It was in control but past 7 days it has shot up
A doc has suggested 2.5mg in morning and 2.5mg in evening. Is it ok
I am 45 years old and good health otherwise

Hypertension for 10 years.
Still not controlled on medicines.
Cause of concern. Uncontrolled high BP may lead to damage to heart, kidneys, brain, eyes mainly.
So, it can't be taken lightly.

3. Minimise extra salt intake
4. Listen to good soothing music & relax.

I would like to change the prescription slightly.
Instead of taking 2.5 mg twice daily. Take a total of 5 mg once daily in morning at sharp 7-8 am.
Keep up the compliance. Recheck your BP after 1 week and follow up. We might need to step up the antihypertensives.
Also since you mentioned that you are a long term hypertensive i would request you to get a few routine tests so that it may be possible for me to give you a better chpice of medicine instead of Asomex according to your personal profile.
Get a urine routine, serum creatinine, sodium, potassium, RBS.
Also get a fundus examination.
