HBA1C test value is 6.79%
Hello Doctor, I recently got some blood test results and would like your expert opinion. My HbA1c is 6.79%, fasting blood glucose is 99.50 mg/dl, and post-lunch blood sugar is 138.84 mg/dl. I am concerned about whether these values indicate prediabetes or early diabetes. I do not have any major symptoms, but I want to take timely precautions if needed. Could you please guide me on whether lifestyle changes or medication are required at this stage? Also, should I undergo any additional tests for better clarity? Kindly advise the best next steps.

Hi, Hope you are doing well. It's good that you got a health check up done. From the reports you have mentioned, your HbA1c is in the diabetic range. I would ideally like to talk to you regarding your general lifestyle and get some detailed information before I advise you any further 1. You will definitely need to start a calorie counted diet program. It's not as difficult as it sounds and you can definitely do it. 2  A regular form of exercise for 150 minutes a week would help you a lot. This is both therapeutic and preventive 3. Regarding, the need for medicines, I would first like to talk to you. Based on that I can decide if lifestyle measures alone would be enough at this stage or not Take care
