Hair fall issues
Hello Doctor, I need advice regarding recent hair fall and thinning, mainly around my crown/top area. I have lost around 20 kg of body weight, and after the weight loss I started noticing increased hair fall and reduced hair density. I would like to know whether this could be temporary shedding due to weight loss (telogen effluvium), male-pattern hair loss, nutritional deficiency, or a combination.
I am considering minoxidil but would like a dermatologist’s advice first. I have heard that hair gained/maintained with minoxidil can fall again after stopping it. Is this true, and would it be suitable for me?
Should I get tests for ferritin/iron, vitamin D, B12, thyroid, zinc, etc.? Please also advise what treatment would be best. I can share scalp photos if required.
