Gout in the foot
I was diagnosed with Gout 3 weeks back, and I had Uric Acid level 9.2.  I was advised to go on Zyloric 100mg with 1-0-1 for 10 days and 2-0-2 for the next 10 days. I have not checked Uric Acid level now yet, but the moment I stop taking tablets, I start getting the foot pain again. Please advise what to do. I have stopped taking high purine foods, alcohol, eggs and grams ( I am a pure vegetarian ) and having 4 ltrs of water everyday. I have had high Uric Acid level from about 10 years now, and I was always advised by doctor not to take any medicine. I weigh 112kg, and I want to know how to reduce without taking moderate protein.

Take feboxostat 40mg twice or once daily according to uric acid levels. Avoid soyabean, brinjal, tomato, saag, yellow dal in diet. Avoid beer or mutton . Apply Ice packs locally thrice daily for 3 weeks. Medications like enzomac forte will help reduce swelling. If uric acid levels are very high (gout attack) then you should colchicine for 3 days and then feboxostat.
