I have high uric acid problem and used febuxostat 40mg and levels are now reduced. Is this tablet to be taken for lifelong or can we manage uric acid levels to stay low with diet and repeating tests if it is high, then only can I use this tablet?

The fluctuations in uric acid levels are not good even if it’s below the maximum level , kindly avoid high protein diet and stop taking alcohol ( if did )
Next Steps
Regular monitoring required and if it’s controlled with diet then medications can be stopped

Febuxostst tablets, if started  should not be stopped suddenly. If done so, it can precipitate an acute attack of gout.   Consult you  doctor before starting or stopping febuxostat.
