Got scratched by teeth of a mouse
Hi. Today at 3:30 pm , a mouse scratched my leg using his teeth. There are no marks. No wound. No bleeding. I am not sure if the mouse bite me or scratched me but I didn't feel like he bite me. But after the scratch I am having slight pain in the scratched area and around the scratched area. I took a T.D injection. Can this scratch from the mouse cause rabbis ? Should I take ARV?

Mouse bites are generally less likely to transmit rabies compared to bites from other animals like dogs, bats, raccoons, and foxes. Mice and other small rodents are rarely found to carry rabies. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states that rodents are almost never found to be infected with rabies and have not been known to transmit rabies to humans. Immediate Steps After a Mouse Bite 1. Clean the Wound: • Wash the bite area thoroughly with soap and water. • Apply an antiseptic to reduce the risk of infection. 2. Monitor for Infection: • Look for signs of infection such as redness, swelling, increased pain, or pus. 3. Seek Medical Advice: • Even though rabies is unlikely, it’s still important to seek medical advice after a mouse bite to address any risk of bacterial infection or other concerns. • A tetanus shot may be recommended if you are not up to date on your tetanus vaccination.
