Glucose tolerance test
I am 33 week pregnant..My doctor recommended me ogtt ..When I went in pathology for test they gave me 75 gm glucose and said drink it and come after one hour...I did the same and went there after  one hour. when I went there they just took a pinch of blood from my finger and put it on glucometer..And showed me that your sugar level is 118.which is normal.I wanted to ask is this the right way to perform ogtt. If not should I go for another test or glucometer result is enough to rule out gestational diabetes..

Yes. This is not OGTT , but this is known as GCT (Glucose Challenge Test). This is a screening test for Gestational Diabetes. In this everything is done on the same visit. You just have to sit at the lab for one hour. In conventional OGTT you have to take 100 gm of glucose and so many pregnant ladies find it difficult to take 100 gm of glucose. Then it involves 5 visits to the lab and the whole day is wasted. Next day you go to get the results. So this is a convenient screening test.

Ideally should be done by venous blood sample But glucometer reading will also be ok
