Hi, my wife is 8th month pregnant and her Glucose tolerance test results shows a value of 157, what does it mean, does she has diabetes or may be affected in future.pls reply. TIA

Oral glucose tolerance test was it done with 75 grams of glucose ? If yes more than 140 suggests gestational diabetes mellitus. A few percentage of women who have gestational diabetes mellitus will get diabetes in future.
Next Steps
1)Diet, exercise and medications as advised by physician. 2) Post delivery yearly once Hba1c to rule out diabetes .

Hello GCT value indicates you have gestational diabetes that means pregnancy induced diabetes. You will have to follow medical nutrition therapy by a nutritionist  diabetic diet,exercise And consult a physician for sugar monitoring and medication 50% GDM women can develop diabetes mellitus In the future postpartum
