Sleep is very important. When you don't get proper sleep you often have gastric issues and you get easily tired. Various problems like headaches, bodyaches, irritability and low mood can also be result of sleep deprivation. If this has been going on since 6 months. You need proper consultation to assess whether any ongoing stress or issue is resulting in sleep disturbances. It can also be due to some other cause for which proper assessment is necessary.

Acidity/gastritis can cause early morning burning, bloating, and discomfort, while stress, irregular meals, late-night eating, or poor sleep habits can worsen both acidity and insomnia. Lack of sleep also increases acid production, creating a cycle of gastritis and sleep disturbance.
Next Steps
Tab Pantoprazole 40 mg – once daily before breakfast for 2–3 weeks • Antacid syrup (Gelusil/Digene) – 10–15 ml after meals if acidity occurs If symptoms persist take : • H. pylori test • CBC and thyroid profile
Health Tips
• Eat early dinner (2–3 hrs before sleep) • Avoid spicy food, tea/coffee at night, alcohol • Maintain fixed sleep schedule • Reduce mobile/TV use before bed • Try light evening walking or relaxation breathing. Contact me anytime on practo for further consultation

Having gastric symptoms early morning along with poor sleep for the past 6 months often indicates acid reflux or gastritis associated with sleep disturbance. Night-time acidity can irritate the stomach and throat, and this discomfort itself can disturb sleep. Common possibilities include **Gastritis or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, and sometimes stress or irregular sleep patterns can also contribute to **Insomnia.
Next Steps
You may consider the following approach: • Start an acid-reducing medicine such as Pantoprazole once daily before breakfast for 2–3 weeks (if not already taking). • For temporary relief of gas and bloating, medicines like **Simethicone or digestive enzymes may help. • Maintain a fixed sleep schedule and avoid heavy meals 2–3 hours before bedtime. If symptoms persist beyond a few weeks, a doctor may recommend: • Testing for **Helicobacter pylori infection • Further evaluation by a **Gastroenterology specialist.
Health Tips
• Avoid tea, coffee, spicy food, alcohol, and smoking especially in the evening. • Eat smaller meals and avoid lying down immediately after eating. • Try relaxation techniques or light exercise in the evening to improve sleep. • Elevating the head of the bed slightly can reduce night-time acidity. If you would like, you can book an online consultation so we can evaluate your gastric symptoms and sleep pattern in detail and create a proper treatment plan to help you sleep comfortably again.
