Front caps
If i go for rct of frontal upper tooth, is it necessary to get a cap on it? If i don't get one, does that mean it might break while chewing?

Hi, To have a crown post RCT in front teeth, depends on factors like, -How much tooth was damaged? -Was the tooth damaged due to injury? -How much is the patient maintaining his/her oral hygiene. Furthermore, -Tooth becomes brittle after RCT and chances of the tooth breaking are more and then it won't be restorable (extent of tooth damage). -Tooth may discolor, if there was a history of injury. -Reinfection of the root canal. You can delay the cementation of crown, but then you will have to be careful with that tooth and try to avoid hard food, and maintain oral hygiene.

Yes anterior teeth also need caps and they need to be aesthetic. Zirconia or emax caps are recommended in anterior teeth. There will be microleakages, secondary infection, tooth fracture if good cap is not done.

A cap after a Root Canal Treatment is for permanent protection of the filling as well as the tooth which tends to get brittle in a root canal procedure. Hence in order to avoid reinfection, for better aesthetics as well as for preserving the restoration post RCT, it is better to get a capping procedure done even if it is for your front tooth.
