Namastey After Kshar Sutra therapy for a sentinel tag or fissure-related swelling, it is common for the area to remain sensitive and painful for several weeks, especially during bowel movements. The anal canal has delicate tissue and constant movement/stretching during stool passage delays complete healing. The fact that the tag separated in 5 days does not mean the internal wound healed completely at the same speed. In many patients, pain gradually decreases over 4–8 weeks, depending on wound depth, stool consistency, local irritation, and tissue sensitivity. Persistent pain during motion after one month can happen due to residual fissure inflammation, tight sphincter spasm, delayed wound healing, or repeated irritation from bowel movements. The fact that warm sitz baths and smooth stools are helping is actually a positive sign. It does not necessarily mean the procedure failed. However, if pain is severe, worsening, or associated with swelling/discharge, then proper reassessment is important.
Next Steps
Do not lose confidence immediately in the treatment, as anorectal wounds often heal slowly and require patience. Continue maintaining soft, strain-free bowel movements and avoid constipation or repeated wiping/rubbing. Continue warm sitz baths regularly, especially after passing stool, as they help relax the anal muscles and improve circulation. Avoid spicy, excessively dry, or constipating foods during recovery. Since your healing seems prolonged and you are now doubtful and mentally stressed about the procedure, a careful follow-up assessment is genuinely advisable to evaluate whether the issue is delayed healing, muscle spasm, or persistent fissure irritation. For professional guidance and personalized post-procedure care, you are encouraged to connect with us at 9 3 1 5 6 6 1 5 6 5, where we provide detailed and holistic support for anorectal healing and recovery.
Health Tips
Keep stools soft naturally with hydration and regular eating habits. Avoid prolonged sitting and excessive straining during bowel movements. Gentle walking and relaxation practices can reduce anal sphincter tightness and improve healing. Most importantly, do not panic—healing in the anal region is often slower than expected because of continuous movement and stool passage, but with proper care many patients improve gradually over time. Thank you
