Fibroid in uterus
Heavy periods with 21 days cycle. Scan shows fibroid 1.49 cm. Advised to remove uterus. Would like to know if it is necessary to remove uterus.

Heavy periods at 42 years age can be managed by taking an endometrial biopsy under hysteroscopic guidance.  Medical therapy can be guided by biopsy report. Fibroid is subserosal(on outer surface of uterus), so it generally doesn't cause heavy period

With the mentioned  report size n location  of fibroids is an unlikely  cause of bleeding

Fibroid here is not cause for removal uterus.. Better management options available medically.. Visit gynac to discuss in detail..
