Viral infections are self limiting infections and may take 7 to 10 days to get recovery. You have to give your baby symptom treatment. Visit your pediatrician.

Investigations are indicated if child is very sick OR fever persists beyond 5 days. If mild, avoid unnecessary medicine and just give steam inhalations for cold and cough and decongestant nasal drops for nasal block or increased cough on lying down. Use paracetamol for fever and repeat every 4 hours if required. If not improving OR accompanied by other symptoms like wheezing or breathlessness or dullness and refusal to feed, consult your paediatrician for physical examination and treatment.

Viral respiratory infection is a common condition in infants. Investigations are usually not indicated for a URI of 1 day. Infants usually have symptom relief by saline nose drops.
Next Steps
Nasoclear saline drops and consult local pediatrician if symptoms persist.
