The correct Paracetamol (Dolo) dose in children is 10–15 mg/kg/dose every 6–8 hours (maximum 60 mg/kg/day). 👉 At 13 years, average weight is ~40–45 kg → dose ~500–650 mg per dose. Giving 2500 mg at once is 4–5 times the safe dose, which can be toxic to the liver. Action: No more paracetamol should be given until reviewed by a doctor. Monitor for nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, yellow eyes (signs of liver injury). If overdose suspected, go to nearest emergency / pediatrician immediately for evaluation. --- 💊 For Vomiting Safest commonly used medicine: Ondansetron (Emset / Ondem) 4 mg orally disintegrating tablet — to be kept under the tongue, once if vomiting continues. Can be repeated after 8–12 hours if required. Syrup form also available: Ondansetron syrup 2 mg/5 ml, dose = 0.15 mg/kg/dose. For a 40 kg child → ~6 mg → ~15 ml syrup. --- 🩺 Supportive Care Encourage small sips of ORS / clear fluids to prevent dehydration. Light diet only (khichdi, curd rice, soup) — avoid chips, fried, spicy food. Tepid sponging for fever if high. --- 🚨 When to See a Doctor Urgently Persistent vomiting, not able to keep fluids down. Drowsiness, confusion, yellow eyes, abdominal pain (possible paracetamol toxicity). Fever not controlled, seizure, or breathing difficulty. --- ✅ Summary for parent: The Dolo dose given was much higher than safe for a 13-year-old. Do not give more paracetamol now and get your child checked by a pediatrician urgently to rule out overdose. For vomiting, Ondansetron 4 mg (ODT or syrup) can be given once, along with plenty of fluids and light food.
