Ferritin Level Interpretation: Ferritin 25.4 ng/mL is considered low-normal. Most labs use 20–250 ng/mL as the normal range, but: <30 ng/mL can still indicate low iron stores, especially in women. Many experts suggest optimal ferritin for women is 50–70 ng/mL to avoid fatigue, hair loss, etc.
Next Steps
✅ What You Can Do: 1. Start low-dose iron supplementation You can start Ferrous Bisglycinate 25–30 mg elemental iron once daily or alternate days (gentler on stomach). Best absorbed on empty stomach or with Vitamin C. Avoid taking it with calcium, tea/coffee, or dairy (reduces absorption). 2. Monitor for side effects Common: constipation, nausea, black stools. If side effects occur, try every other day dosing, or switch to a gentle iron form like Ferric Maltol or slow-release iron. 3. Recheck ferritin in 6–8 weeks Goal: Raise ferritin to 50–70 ng/mL Supplement for at least 3 months, even if you feel better earlier.
Health Tips
Optional Blood Tests (if not done recently): Hemoglobin (Hb) Iron, TIBC, Transferrin Saturation Vitamin B12, Vitamin D Thyroid profile (TSH) Yes, you can safely start iron supplements. 📌Let me know if you want a specific brand recommendation.
