Femur fracture
My mother got fractured her right femur and plating was done. It's been 5 months plating is done in right femur but still bone is not united, please advise the next course of action needs to be followed. Recent xray is attached.

She needs a revision surgery to a nail She can be made to walk the very next day after nail insertion

This plate is stopping the bones from getting close enough to unite and heal. The gap is too large. Either get the plate removed and a nail inserted or get the plate redone properly , this time bone pieces from pelvic bone will be needed to fill this gap. All the best. Don't despair, she will heal and be walking, it's good you got second opinions

Plate needs to be removed and nailing has to be done with bone grafting. Consult for further opinion and better understanding.

Well it's looking like going into non union...next course of action would be to remove and do intramedullary nailing... intramedullary nailing is the current treatment for any shaft femur fracture..
