There are many reasons for foot swelling.. One of the common reason is dependent edema secondary to some other disease condition in body involving kidney, heart etc.. Sometimes it may he secondary to some injury or vascular disorder..
A proper evaluation would be necessary for reaching a proper diagnosis..

You can keep the limb elevated over pillow while resting.. You can also start hot fomentation in salt water.. Ankle and toe movement exercises can be started.. You may take up some investigations to rule out the causes..
