Hi sir /Mam My baby is 18 months old and when she has fever she is getting febrile seizure .is that febrile seizures cause any damage to baby or is those normal

Seizure arenotnormal in any person. Any Family history of fits , these children are prone to epilesy. Fever prokes seizure. Milder is fever with strong family history of convulsions, are prone to epilepsy. Repeated episodes of convulsions leads to hypoxia and brain damage.Hence every case of seizure is taken very seriously. Mild fever with seizure are called Atypical febrile seizures . And are to be treated.EEG maybe normalbuttaken seriously. Through physical check up to be done to ruleout meningeal infection.or viral encephalitis.

They generally dont cause any damage But till 5 year consult doctor earliest at onset of fever .fever needs to be controlled at earlie st.

They can reoccur till 5 yrs of age give tab fresium whenever child is having fever

Febrile Seizure Precautions to be taken: 1. They don't harm but don't allow it get repeat by allowing the child to have high fever consult at the earliest onset of Fever. 2. Follow the febrile Seizure prophylaxis. 3. If it is repeating frequently needs evaluation.
