This is a regular occurrence that I face i take etizolam before sleep since I get slight anxiety its dr prescribed. Even in afternoon naps I have frequent nightmares I dont have nice dreams there is always a fear in my dreams. Specially strairs- running - chase- missing an important event- seeing people who i dont talk to. Basically my mind is awake and wants to wake up from a bad dream but my body refuses its weird bcz the nightmare make me feel uncomfortable like am screaming but no one can hear me I know that If I can go to the other room my mom is there but my body refuses to wake up. Even in my dream am aware that my mom is in the next room both in dream and reality I have awareness. I've been trying Lucid dreaming and in a few instance I have altered the dream saved myself from dying (somethingi recurring in my nightmares) my dreams get really weird at time am scared to sleep mostly now that I have trouble pulling myself out of the state.

For immediate resolution, start with psychiatric medicine, connect with your psychiatrist you are still getting nightmares and not getting a sound sleep, request for change of medicines.
It could be performance anxiety, health anxiety, or stress, or even be ptsd, the root cause has to be figured first and CBT has to be administered.

It sounds like you’re experiencing anxiety-related nightmares with episodes of sleep paralysis, where your mind wakes up before your body. This can feel frightening but is a known phenomenon. Since it’s happening frequently and affecting your sleep, please discuss it with your psychiatrist to review your anxiety and medication. Meanwhile, maintain a regular sleep routine and avoid practicing lucid dreaming if it’s making the episodes worse.

Hi, thank you for sharing your concern. It must be emotionally distressing to experience frequent nightmares, fear during sleep, and difficulty waking up despite being aware of your surroundings. From what you have shared, these experiences may be related to anxiety, recurrent nightmares, or episodes of sleep paralysis, which can become more distressing when they occur repeatedly. Since you are already taking Etizolam prescribed by your doctor, I would suggest discussing these ongoing symptoms with your treating psychiatrist, as your treatment may need to be reviewed. Along with this, consulting a counselling psychologist trained in CBT can help you understand the role of anxiety, reduce the fear associated with these experiences, and learn healthier coping strategies. You don’t have to handle this alone. Take one step at a time. Take care.

What you’re describing sounds very distressing. These experiences may be linked to anxiety, recurrent nightmares or sleep paralysis. Please discuss them with your psychiatrist and consider working with a psychologist on anxiety management
