Hello practo user First of all have u any problem regarding ur papillae. Why ur doc precisely said enlarged papillae. these r taste buds found on the tongue. There r many reasons due to which papillae were loss in some areas so u can feel that papillae r enlarged. Other reason is that if patient did not clean his tongue regularly there will b microbial infection due ti this papillae will b enlaged..so not t worry take multivitamin n clean ur tongue.stress can also induce hypertrophy of papillae.

Hi, how can you say that they are enlarged. Did you compared their size from an earlier date? They are normally bigger in size as compared to other papillae found on tongue. Normally a person can't see his / her own circumvallate papillae unless tongue is extremely protruded. So, may be you must have seen them all of a sudden and you are anxious about it. Are there any symptoms? As long it is normal, NO treatment is required. Take care

Enlarged papillae (or hypertrophy) could be signs of some nutritional deficiencies and improper hydration. Make sure you have balanced diet rich in vitamins and essential minerals, or else top up using capsules. Hydrate yourself with 2-3 Ltrs of water daily. Enlarged papillae are usually harmless.

No need to worry about that this enlarged papillae. But do proper tongue cleaning regularly and use regular mouth wash once a day diluting it in water.
