Elevated TSH and cholestrol level
Namaste Doctors, I am 26 years old, weighing around 62 kg and a height of 5.2ft. I work from home in an IT sector and mostly, follow a sedentary lifestyle. Two months ago, I checked my lipid profile where I had seen elevated triglycerides around 243 and very less HDL around 22. For that, I was having lauki juice occasionally in the morning and some days, I do an evening walk after my work hour. I also take vitamin d3 and b12 capsule. Today, I again checked my lipid profile and TSH level. My triglycerides has come down around 158 (< 150 is desirable) and good cholesterol still less. My TSH is 8.6. In the last 6,8 months, I have seen an increase in fats around my belly area. I remain stressed and have overthinking issues. Are both cholesterol and thyroid linked together? I would like to get some advice and ayurvedic medicine suggestions for these. Thank you.

Namaste. Yes, thyroid imbalance and lipid issues often go hand in hand. High TSH can slow your metabolism, leading to low HDL and belly fat. From an Ayurvedic view, this is a sign of Kapha and Meda dhatu imbalance.

Yes both are linked. When TSH levels are increased, it would be hypothyroidism in which metabolism slows down. Due to this the fat/ cholesterol in the body increases. Hypothyroidism is a lifestyle disorder wherein stress and sedentary lifestyle also would be one of the reasons for it. Follow the below routine to gradually bring your thyroid levels to normal 1.Include 30-45mins of  exercise and 5-10mins of pranayama and meditation everyday 2.Follow healthy diet 3. Avoid sedentary lifestyle and stay physically & mentally active 4. Follow proper sleep timings (10pm- 5/6am) 5.Ujjayi pranayama 2 mins daily is very effective in balancing thyroid hormones. 6.Have 1-2 soaked brazil nuts everyday. 7. Kanchanara guggulu 2-0-2 A/f can be taken These will be definitely helpful, keep monitoring your thyroid levels every 1-2 months. After 3 months if your TSH levels are same then consult an ayurveda doctor for detailed evaluation and treatment

Yes, hypothyroidism (TSH 8.6) and lipid imbalance (↑triglycerides, ↓HDL) are often linked. Slow metabolism due to low thyroid function can lead to fat accumulation, especially around the belly, and mental symptoms like stress and overthinking. Ayurveda addresses this through Agni deepana (digestive correction), Medo dhatu balance, and Manas shanti (mental calmness). Herbs like Triphala, Guggulu, Brahmi, Ashwagandha, and Kanchanar Guggulu may be beneficial. Please consult online for a tailored, dosha-based plan and structured herbal treatment.
