I have done a 4th generation CMIA antigen and antibody Hiv combo test recently. My last possible exposure was 6years back. It is non reactive. But while I did the test I was using corticosteroid nasal spray to treat allergic rhinitis. Doctpr adviced me to use duonase nasal spray for treating allergic rhintis. The dose was 2 sprays per nostril twice daily. I used the spray as prescribed for a continuous period of 5months. Now my question is can the use of this corticosteroid nasal spray i.e duonase nasal spray used for a continuous period of 5months cause immunosuppression and reduce the HIV antibodies so that it cannot be detected by HIV antibody test and cause a false negative when the 4th Generation CMIA antigen and antibody test which is non reactive was done after 6years of exposure that well outside the window period?

The answer is no. Topical nasal steroids have negligible systemic absorption and are not known to cause immunosuppressive. They only have local effects.thank you
Duonase contains fluticasone, it is a locally acting spray with negligible systemic absorption. It will not lead to false negatives in the mentioned antigen anti body test. The dosage is very minimal to cause any immunosuppression.
