Hello I'm Dr Nikita Iyer. Generally during an acute cold episode there can be a slight inward pull of the ear drum causing ear pain and a blocked sensation which is normal. It is important to treat the cold first in such a case.
Next Steps
Visit an ENT doctor in order to check the ears and take treatment for the cold before using any ear drops
In case of any fever spikes get a pediatric consult as well
Health Tips
Avoid using hot oil or any ear drops or ear cleaning
Normal saline nose drops pediatric formulation can be started for the child (depending on the age the number of drops can be altered)
Do not give cold syrups without a dosage by weight prescribed by either a pediatrician or ENT doctor
