Dog scratch
I RECEIVED THE FULL COURSE OF RABIES VACCINE (4 DOSES) INCLUDING ERIG ON 01/12/2024 (LAST VACCINE DATE). But yesterday a street dog scratched me (minor scratch no bleeding but pus and pain) A little bit confused is it from the dog scratch?? (picture attached) I went to govt hospital and they recommended 2 booster doses on day 0 and day 3. (Picture attached). Is it enough for protection ? I took tt injection and 0 day booster dose yesterday.

You’ve already completed a full rabies vaccination course including ERIG in December 2024, which gives long-term immunity. Since the new scratch occurred within 1 year, the recommended 2 booster doses (Day 0 and Day 3) are enough for complete protection — no need to repeat the entire course or ERIG again. Make sure to: Clean the scratch thoroughly with soap and running water for 15 minutes. Apply antiseptic (povidone-iodine). Complete your Day 3 booster without delay. Keep the area under observation for any infection signs (pain, swelling, redness, pus). For confirmation of correct vaccine type, interval, and wound management guidance, you can contact me directly on WhatsApp at nine three two six zero two zero five nine six for quick personalized advice.
