Dog bite by stray dog

Asked for Male, 50 Years

Yesterday while on evening walk, a stray dog attacked me from behind without any provocation. It happened so fast , I am not sure if I was bit. I went to a doctor and he says that as no bleeding has happened , I do not need vaccination. Can / should I anyway take vaccination as a precaution.
