A ketogenic diet aims to adjust your body to utilize your fat as the main source of energy. Ketones are products of partial fat breakdown. By cutting out on carbohydrates, the diet is setting your body in a stage of ketosis. This diet was actually put in practice to treat epileptic patients. The diet is very rich in fats, moderate amount of protein and very low carbohydrates.
Next Steps
This is not really recommend to a patient with metabolic disorders, like dyslipidemia (high cholesterol), diabetes, Blood pressure.
Health Tips
Follow a healthy, low calorie diet with a balance of all the 3 macronutrients, i.e. carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Increase your fiber intake. Along with food, make sure you exercise atleast for 30-45 mins at a stretch.

If you already have high cholesterol beware you can fall in trouble if you follow keto! Keto diet is basically high fat & high protein diet with low carb where many believe following such diet helps to lose weight as carbs is not supplied to body as fat will be used as source of energy. This diet is not SUSTAINABLE DIET & not recommend to follow meaning you can't follow the same for life time as each body needs customized diet with balanced nutrition. Continuing keto diet for long run can give blockages (as cheese, milk, ghee, curds, paneer these are from animal source & does contains cholesterol) & damage your kidney (high protein put lots of load on kidney) *Follow any diet under Nutritionist guidance* This diet is not recommended people who are suffering from any medical conditions like diabetes, hypothyroid, high cholesterol, high bp,fatty liver, pcos, kidney patient & more.
