Dear patient, first I would like to know age of your father. Definitely X-ray shows degenerative changes but still clinical examination in person is needed to assess range of motion swelling etc. There are few other options to try- 1) Continue medicines mentioned above along with physiotherapy and regular exercise as advised by physiotherapist. Early stage can get benefits from this.can use knee caps, hot fomentation, avoid squatting, climbing stairs, sitting cross legged. 2) If he is non diabetic, intra-articular steroids can be given every 6-9 months to prolong surgery. 3) A trial of intra-articular PRP can be given. All these recommendations depend on actual clinical examination.

Patient has to decide when to go for TKR. If pain symptoms are hampering his daily living activities then go for it. TKR has very good success rate so don't worry

What injection is he taking every 15 days? According to the x-ray, the joint looks like it can be managed conservatively without surgery. There are multiple management protocols for such cases, like Nutriceuticals(rosehip, curcumin, Boswellia etc), Viscosupplementation with Hyaluronic acid, Platelet-rich plasma injections etc. Each treatment has to be individually tailored to the patient and according to his demands/expectations. One size fits all approach does not work in orthopaedics.
Health Tips
do not depend on pain killers for a prologed period of time, they are bad for the kidneys
