Do I need surgery for my
Sir,I am 24 male. I had a severe elbow fracture on September 2015. External Fixation is fixed and removed after 6 weeks but pain was severe and was increasing day by day during physio therapy. One of the doctors found that the pain is due to non union and on February 2016 an Internal Fixation is done . But still my range of motion is reduced and feeling severe pain. Please suggest me . I had taken multiple opinions. Some doctors are saying surgery has to be done as non union is still there. Some are saying surgery is dangerous but pain is very severe

The fact that you had a fixator, and a second surgery for nonunion, there are chances that you may have stiffness of joints. physiotherapy and exercises are a good way of taking care of the stiffness. if not responding to this , then manipulation under anesthesia or surgical release of adhesions to gain movement can be done, but this is decided only on a case to case basis. the information provided by you is not enough, and moreover, i have not examined you clinically or gone through your x rays. so for your particular condition, i will be able to give you my opinion after i have examined you

Your first x ray before fixation and with ex fix if available will give good info Right now there is non union but out of the joint and the radio capitullar joint may be arthritic Off course cause of pain can be extra articular stiffness with restricted mobility or intra articular with joint arthritis Additional benefit will come with examination under anaesthesia
Next Steps
can take mri of elbow to rule out avn of capitullum  if no avn agressive physio post mobilisation under anaesthesia
