Causes can be: 1)Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) 2)Certain foods and beverages, like spicy foods, citrus fruits, chocolate, caffeine, and fatty or fried foods, can trigger acidity 3) Eating large meals or lying down immediately after a meal can contribute to acid reflux 4) Stress and anxiety can increase stomach acid production, leading to acidity 5) Smoking and Alcohol: Both can weaken the lower esophageal sphincter, allowing acid to escape from the stomach into the esophagus
