“Hello Doctor, I am Vaishali, 20 years old. I had intercourse around 27th February. My periods came normally on 18th March with proper flow. Now in April, my expected period around 18th is delayed by about 6 days. I am having mild lower abdominal pain occasionally. Recently my sleep cycle has been disturbed and I have been under some stress. Please advise if this is a normal hormonal delay or if I need any tests/check-up.”

Delay in period is due to various reasons , stress , hormonal imbalances , ovarian cyst or any other pelvic pathology . As u r saying your period was normal after unprotected intercouse . It decreased possibility of pregnancy . However to be 100 percent sure u need to do b hcg test if second period don’t come after 1 week or so . Meanwhile try to reduce stress . Have healthy meal . . And maintain periods date calendar . So u can know about your cycle variability very well . And when to consult doctor
