Deep cleaning
Can we do deep cleaning on a tooth when they suspect an infection underneath? X-ray didn't show up infection. But the Oral surgeon today pressed that tooth. It hurts when he pressed with fingers. Dentist wanted me to have deep cleaning done whereas oral surgeon wanted me to extract this second lower molar. Can we do deep cleaning or extraction should be done first?

Hello 👋 As per your clinical intraoral picture, you require deep cleaning ,so take your periodontist help. But,the utmost thing which will subside your pain and clear the infection is to go for Root canal treatment and a tooth cap thereafter .There might be periapical infection and caries are close to pulp(nerve) .Good Root canal treated tooth will go a long way.,you can very well eat your food from that side after completing the procedure .Always, prioritise on saving the tooth first rather than loosing at first attempt
